  • Soil Food Web Workshop with Edwin Sittler
    February 12th 9:30am - 4:00pm at the Troy old School House

    Edwin Sittler will take participants through the soil foodweb principles and explain all of the benefits of keeping a healthy living soil. Everyone will get a binder of the day's notes.
    Please bring your own lunch. Tea and coffee will be served.

  • Why Our Food Choices Matter?
    February 21st - 7:00pm - 9:30pm at St Giles Presbyterian Church, 205 Linwell Rd, St. Catherines

    This presentation will speak to the problems with the current food system for farmers, consumers, the environment and ways to make positive change. The discussion will be followed with refreshments and a talk about the 100 mile diet with local Niagara area food groups present.

  • EFAO presents, "Food Inc"
    February 25th 7:00pm - 9:30pm at the Niagara Arts Centre, 354 St.Paul Street, St. Catherines
    March 3rd 7:00pm - 9:30pm at the Old Pelham Town Hall ,491 Canboro Rd, Ridgeville
    In Food, Inc., filmmaker Robert Kenner lifts the veil on the food industry, exposing the highly mechanized underbelly that has been hidden from consumers with the consent of government regulatory agencies, USDA and FDA. America's food supply is now controlled by a handful of corporations that often put profit ahead of consumer health, the livelihood of the American farmer, the safety of workers and our own environment. Interviews with Michael Pollan, Joel Salatin of Polyface Farms and Gary Hirshberg of Stonyfield Organic Dairy. Q&A to follow with local farmers.

  • Weaning Ourselves Off of Fossil Fuels / Ideas and Examples of Sustainable On-Farm Practices
    March 6th 10 am to 4 pm at Cedar Down Farm in Neustadt

    Come and discuss what we are doing and what we should be doing to make our farms less dependent on fossil fuels. Ideas, examples, thoughts and dreams all welcome.
