Newsletter Volunteer Content Editors

We are looking for two volunteer Content Editors (CEs) to be responsible for obtaining articles in specific areas of interest, namely Livestock and Homesteading (that includes gardening, backyard livestock, culinary interests, etc.), for the EFO’s bimonthly newsletter, Ecological Farming in Ontario.

CEs will be responsible for developing or suggesting story topics, and for soliciting articles and photographs from EFO members or other knowledgeable individuals and/or sources. CEs can also look at reprinting articles from other publications, soliciting contributions from other organizations, or reviewing past EFO newsletters for articles that may be worth reprinting. Articles might be about production methods, farmer profiles, hot topics, etc. Each CE will be responsible for submitting at least one article on their area of focus for each issue.

CEs will report to our Production Editor, Fiona Wagner, who will be responsible for managing all submissions, finalizing the content for each issue, doing the layout, overseeing the copy editing and proofing, and generally readying everything for print. As needed/requested, the Production Editor will gladly support the CEs and help to gather content, photographs, etc.

Our goal is to develop a “pipeline” of articles in order to de-stress production. This effort will be co-ordinated by the Production Editor, who will be working towards planning content for one issue or more ahead. We encourage CEs to plan their content for a number of issues at a time, and submit articles well in advance of publication.
